Is Psalmcast really free?
Yes. The Free plan never runs out: songs, Bibles, hymns, services and media on one screen, with a small watermark in a top corner. Pro adds more screens, the phone remote, the Scripture Listener, streaming tools and cloud backup. Every church can try Pro free for 30 days with just an email address. When the trial ends, Psalmcast simply goes back to Free.
Do I need internet during the service?
No. Everything runs on the laptop, and the phone remote uses the local church Wi-Fi. You only need internet for extras like YouTube, online lyric search, cloud backup, update checks and, now and then, renewing a Pro licence. A licence that can't renew never interrupts a service.
Can I bring my songs from EasyWorship or ProPresenter?
Yes. Import from EasyWorship 6/7 and 2009, ProPresenter 5/6/7, OpenLP, OpenSong, MediaShout, SongShow Plus, VideoPsalm, CCLI SongSelect, ChordPro, Word and plain text. EasyWorship and OpenLP libraries are found automatically, and duplicates are shown side by side so you can choose. You can bring your EasyWorship media too.
Does the Scripture Listener record the sermon?
No. Speech is recognised on the laptop itself, and nothing is recorded or uploaded. By default it only suggests the passages it hears, and you choose what goes on screen. The built-in speech model runs on any quad-core computer; an optional, more accurate model downloads once (about 290 MB).
Do people need an app on their phones?
No. The remote and the congregation's follow-along page open in the phone's browser after scanning a QR code. The remote is protected by a 6-digit PIN, and you can remove paired phones at any time.
Does it come with hymns?
Psalmcast doesn't include a hymnal, but you can import one in a few clicks, with the hymn numbers taken from the files. Public-domain hymnals such as the Open Hymnal work well. Only project hymnals that are public domain or that your church is licensed to use.
Can I put lyrics over my livestream camera?
Yes, with Pro. Add a lower-third output and send it over NDI with a see-through background, or use it as a browser source. In OBS (with the free DistroAV plugin) or vMix it sits on top of your camera, so only the words show. It doesn't need a spare screen.
How many computers can we use?
Free works on as many computers as you like. A Pro subscription covers several church computers, and you can see and remove them on your account page at any time.
Where are my songs and services stored?
On your own computer. Nothing is uploaded unless you turn on cloud backup, which writes to your own Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox or S3. Crash reports are off unless you switch them on. See our privacy policy.
Is there a Mac or Linux version?
Not yet. Psalmcast is available for Windows 10 and 11 today, and Mac and Linux versions are on the way. Email us and we'll tell you when they're ready.
